2026 Michigan Big Man AND Guard Camp

July 27th – August 1st, 2026

Our flagship summer camp for big men and guards will take place once again at the Michigan Sports Academies Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids, MI. The facility, with multiple courts, is just steps away from the hotel, and a large supermarket, Walmart, and multiple restaurants are all nearby. Hotel rooms include a full fridge, stove top, microwave and other amenities. The free hotel shuttle will pick up those players staying at the hotel.

This year, Rick, George, Gordon, Jay, and Barak will all be returning to coach and we look forward to adding one more dedicated big man coach as well. Our overall philosophy is to balance skill teaching with helping you strengthen your own particular skill set. We believe this has proven then most effective way to ensure that you not only leave the camp a better player but that once your new season is underway you will continue to use what you have learned rather than revert to old habits (which is always the natural tendency.) We have consulted with past participants as well as professional players to find the ideal number of days.

Our daily schedule includes two practices and one mental coaching session. Each year we focus on a limited number of target skills designed to help both bigs and guards, and help players to master these skills to the point of being able to use them in games. Toward the end of the camp players have a chance to test their skills in a game featuring a qualified referee.

All practices are at the MSA Fieldhouse on 28th Street Court, SE. This year we will offer group rates at both the Candlewood Suites and TownPlace Suites, both across the street from the Fieldhouse. Both feature a kitchen area with a full fridge, stove top, microwave and other amenities. TownePlace Suites also offers complimentary breakfast. The free hotel shuttle will pick up those players staying at the hotel. Parents will be able to contact the hotel directly and ask for the Rick Mahorn Basketball Camp rate. Players and parents are free to make your own hotel reservations. Players attending on their own needing to be paired up with one other player should contact us at info@bigman.camp
